Tyler's 19th Birthday Cake

This is a cake my aunt asked me to make for my cousin. I only had like 2 days to plan and I didn't feel very good while I was making it, but he still enjoyed it a felt special. I obviously need to work on my piping. :) But hey, my handwriting stinks so why should my icing writing be any better?

Are You Ready For Some Football???

Ben and I had some friends over to grill out and watch the first NFL game of the season. What better reason to make a cake? I decided to try my hand at carving a 3D cake.

Aside from the fact that it looks slightly pregnant.. I'm pretty proud of it!

Since there was good bit of cake cut away to make the shape, I am in the middle of making cake lollipops! Waste not, want not! I'll post pics next time! :)

Fondant on Cupcakes

I've seen a million super cute cupcake pictures lately so I decided to see what I could do. Yes, these are made with the same pink, yellow and white fondant. Yay! It's finally gone!

They turned out ok I guess. Learned a lot. One of those things being don't ask your husband take the picture... it won't turn out very good. That's what practice is for right! But they tasted yummy!

Necessity .... The Mother of Invention...

So I got in the baking mood. I decided to make a chocolate cake with mocha buttercream icing. I also wanted to use up the rest of my leftover fondant. As it turns out, I didn't really have enough of any color to cover the cake , so I rolled the pink a bit on the thin side. Fondant nearing the end of it's usefulness + rolling too thin + trying to decorate in less than an hour = by far the worst job covering a cake I have ever done. Sooo... what can I do to cover it up?? Large yellow ribbon and bow and strategically placed white dots. :) I think it still turned out pretty cute.

And the mocha buttercream was yummy!

My cute little helper!

When the Hubby is Away...

I will practice making things out of fondant.

This is my first atempt at making a person. Now I realize that she is albino, has no face and is slightly out of proportion... but I was pretty happy with it.

This is my first fondant rose. Not too shabby.

This is a mini slice of cake. I saw this on http://www.thefrostedcakencookie.blogspot.com/ It is supposed to be a cupcake topper. I didn't bother separating the fondant back out after this one... I just ate it. :)

Thanks for looking!

Janice's Birthday Cake

This is my first stacked cake and (obviously) my first topsy turvy cake. I think it's cute and am pretty happy with how it turned out. I learned a lot for next time. :)

Ben's Cake

I made this cake for Ben because he was giving me a hard time about making cakes for everyone else.

Ben's Mom' Birthday Cake

I made this cake for Ben's mom, trying to use up some of the extra fondant I had inthe fridge.

Patti Jo's Birthday Cake

This was my first (and only so far) attempt at fondant bows.

Carter's 2nd Birthday Cake

He's a BIG Mickey Mouse Clubhouse fan. :)

First Fondant Cake

There should be a picture here of a round 2 layer cake with purple marshmallow fondant with blue fondant stars... if I can find one.

Carter's First Birthday Cake

This was my first real attempt at cake decorating.
