Carter's 3rd Birthday Cake

Once upon a time, way back in May, it was my sweet boy's third birthday. The past year he has been obsessed with music and guitars. I decided to make his cake based on his guitar.

I think it turned out pretty awesome! One of my favorite details was attaching the strap from his guitar to the cake.

Happy (late) birthday to my big boy! I love you!

And Now for Something Completely Different....

Just so you know, this post is going to have absolutely nothing to do with cake.

Ben and I were getting ready to do Christmas cards and I came across this awesome offer from Shutterfly for bloggers. I blog about them, and they give me 50 free cards! Woot!

They have so may cute designs, it was difficult to pick one. Here are a few of my favorites.

I thought this one would be too cute with the boys. With the picture we are wanting to use, it makes it look like it is saying Jackson is naughty and Carter is nice.

I also really love this one. I love the candy stripe at the bottom and the not quite primary-ness of the red and green.

I would totally love this one if I had girls. The snowflakes are so pretty. But I don't, I have boys. Therefore, this will not be our christmas card.

There are so many really good options that you could spend forever on the site, looking at cards. Shutterfly is also super easy to use. I ordered a photo book for Ben for Father’s Day last year. It was fabulous. I picked the pictures that I wanted to include, and Shutterfly did all of the layout for me! Yay!
So, if you’ve never checked them out, go do it. Oh, and don’t worry, I haven’t spilled the beans on which design we’ve chosen for our card this year. Now, to get them in the mail! Merry Christmas!!!

Duh, da da, duh! My first Wedding Cake!

My cousin asked me to make the cake for her wedding this past May. I was VERY nervous about the whole thing. Fortunately, my mom was in town for the wedding so she helped me out. She kept me calm and focused and organized and kept my dishes clean. Thanks mom!!

Stacking the cake verrrry carefully. And trying to not get my belly in the buttercream!

I think it turned out well and tasted yummy! The cake was triple chocolate with 2 tiers with dark chocolate buttercream and one with mocha buttercream.

Easter Cake

My mom and I decided to make a cake for Easter, (Yes, I realize that it's December. I've been busy. Work with me here!) Afterall, what could be better after hunting Easter Eggs and all of that candy than a cake! Especially when it is chocolate, with chocolate filling, covered in chocolate ganache, with chocolate panels on the side, buttercream frosting grass and malt ball eggs!!

Happy Easter... in December!

Green Eggs and Ham

I made this cake for my niece, Claria's, Green Eggs and Ham themed second birthday. It was special to be able to make a cake for such a sweetheart!

My favorite things about this cake are the "pencil marks" and that the inside was green velvet.

Word of warning. If you make a funny shaped cake, you will be required to cut the cake. Even if you have a big fat preggo belly!

P.S. No, I'm not pregnant again, this cake was done in April. I told you, I've got a lot of catching up to do!

Lots of Catching Up to Do!

So, I really have made some cakes since last post. No, really! I have. And I really intend to put them on here. Afterall, I did promise Ellen that I would. :) And because I wrote this post, I really have to get the others up. See how that works? If I tell you about it, I have to do it! Right? In the mean time, how about a picture or two of my cutie pies?
