Carter's 4th Birthday Cake

My sweet boy turned 4! How is that even possible?

A few months before his birthday, I asked him what kind of birthday he wanted. He answered, "Batman!". I should note that at this point the only thing he hew about Batman was that he was on his toothbrush. To prepare him for the party, we watched a few old school Batman videos that we found online. The party had costumes, bad guys, and a scavengerhunt for a stolen cake. I think it is safe to say that he had a great time.

He picked chocolate cake with cookies and cream frosting. He has good taste.

The cake that went missing.

We also had cupcakes with fondant Batman fighting phrases toppers. Ya know, Biff! Bam! Pow!

John Deere 2nd Birthday

I made this cake for a friend of my SIL.

She sent me this cake for inspiration.

It was a marbled cake with vanilla buttercream.

Jungle Themed Baby Shower Cake

WANRING: I am (of course) very late in posting this.

One of the Peeps, Monica, is having a baby! She's such a cute pregnant woman! We were having a baby shower for her, and I got to make the cake!

Ellen blogged about the shindig here.

This is the party supplies that were used for the shower.

I used the animals from there as my insipration for the cake.

The cake was white cake with cookies and cream. Yummy!

(Please excuse the super soft/melting buttercream. It was an especially hot and humid day in Arkansas.)

I can't wait to meet Baby Jinx after he or she is born!

(Update: She's here and she's adorable! And she's my burthday buddy!)

Grady 1st Birthday

My nephew just turned 1! I can't believe it! The party was a monkey theme, so this is what we came up with.

The cake is chocolate with banana buttercream.

The poor boy was having an allergy attack, so his eyes are all swollen, but he seemed to have a good time digging into his smash cake.

Happy Birthday buddy!

Claira's 3rd Birthday!

My sweet niece was having a tea party birthday party, so her mama asked me to make a tea pot cake. We talked about colors and, as it turns out, the party colors just happen to match Mrs Potts.

So, I present to you, the Mrs Potts teapot cake.

The cake is strawberry with vanilla frosting and a strawberry filling. Yum!!

I thought cupcakes would be good for the tea party too, so I made a few cupcakes to go with it.

Happy Birthday sweet girl!!

Winter Cake

I have an absolutely fabulous group of girlfriends from our college days. Some of us have moved away, but there are still a group of us in the area and we try to get together frequently. Every year, we have an ornament exchange around Christmas. There is always a good time to be had, complete with food, laughter, story telling, more laughter and just an all together good time.

My contribution to the food this (last) year was a cake! (I know, you're very suprised!) I decided to go with a very simple winter theme. I think it turned out cute, but I wish I lived nearer to a store that sold luster dust or pearl dust or some kind of shimmery dust so that I could have put some on the snow to make it a little sparkly.

Merry (very late) Christmas!

Happy Birthday, Zion!

I made this cake to celebrate our indoor climbing gym's 5th birthday and a climbing competition we were holding. (Back in December. Still catching up.) The competition was called the "Blacklight Boulderama", so I tried to go for the blacklight effect on the cake.

In case you don't know a thing about climbing (or you just can't tell what they are), the cake is decorated with little climbing holds, the logo for the logo for the competition and the mountain from the logo of the gym.

Cake for my Mommy

I made this cake for my mommy (Yes, I still call her "mommy". Don't judge!) for Mother's Day. We have made a lot of cakes together, but I had never made one just for her. This was the same weekend as my cousin's wedding and Carter's birthday party, so I had to keep it simple.
Love you, Mom!!
